Platform overview
Underdog turns the data your squad already generates — GPS units, gym logs, jump tests, daily check-ins — into decisions you can act on: who is loaded, who is fresh, who is improving, and who needs a conversation.
There are two ways into the platform, and they share the same database:
The coach dashboard
The desktop dashboard (/dashboard) is where coaches and admins do their work.
The left sidebar groups everything by job to be done:
- Athletes & Squads — your roster, the squads you organise it into, and the automatic Concerns feed that flags athletes who need attention.
- GPS — every tracked session, a searchable Runs explorer, Speed Progress development tracking, and the Data Review queue for tidying up what the importer couldn't place.
- Load Mgt — the squad load heatmap and per-athlete acute:chronic analysis.
- Testing — jump testing and running fitness tests (MAS, VIFT, MSS, Yo-Yo).
- Conditioning — individualised running prescription: a speed profile, a goal-driven session builder and saved plans.
- Game Demands — what a game costs per position, and planning training as a % of it.
- Gym — the exercise library, reusable session templates, plans you assign, and the sessions athletes log against them.
- Wellness — daily readiness check-ins (can be turned on or off per organisation, as can Testing, Conditioning, Gym and Game Demands).
- Reports, Schedule, Usage Analytics and Settings round it out.
Some entries only appear if the matching feature is enabled for your organisation, and a few are admin-only. See Roles & access.
The player app
Players get a mobile-first app at /me — installable to the home screen as a
PWA. They see their own sessions, trends and match history, log gym work, and
fill in a daily wellness check-in. Coaches can open the same app to manage the
squad on the go and view the dashboard as any player sees it. See
The player app and Coaching on mobile.
How the pieces fit together
Most data flows in automatically. GPS units sync from your provider (StatSports, PlayerTek, SPT or PlayerData); Underdog's importer matches each recording to a session on your Schedule and derives the metrics. Anything it can't place lands in Data Review. Gym, jump and wellness data come from the templates you build and the check-ins players complete.
From there, the same numbers feed every surface: the athlete page, the load heatmap, the concerns feed, the reports, and the player app — so a coach and a player are always looking at one source of truth.
